Governor Nyong’o lauds Kisumu schools for impressive KCSE results

Kisumu County Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o has praised teachers and candidates for their impressive performances in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) exam results.

In his congratulatory message to teachers and students in the region, Governor Nyong’o acknowledged the dedication and good discipline of the learners that played a key role in the impressive performance.

“I take this opportunity to appreciate the principals, teachers, and the candidates for the good performance in KCSE 2024. A good number of schools, within the county, achieved remarkable improvement in the just released exam results. This is because of the dedication of the teachers, good discipline of the learners, and support from the parents,” the county head said.

He also appreciated the bank financiers for helping students go to school as well as the Kisumu County Education Directorate under MOE, TSC, County Education Board, KESSHA, KEPSHA, KNUT, KUPPET, Parents Association, religious organizations sponsoring schools, and NGOs supporting education, for their efforts which contributed to a significant improvement in results.

Nyong’o particularly mentioned specific schools that recorded sterling performances such as Maseno School and Chemelil Sugar Secondary School, he also recognised the improvement of some schools.

“Kisumu County is one of the few counties that have addressed the gender parity in the education sector. The number of girls who sat KCSE 2024 in Kisumu is slightly more than the boys. Girls 52.39 percent while boys 47.61 percent.

“This is not to say that the county government has a preference for any gender. Opportunities are availed equally. The county government will continue with its social responsibility, of supporting needy students in secondary schools and institutions of higher learning with scholarships and bursaries, to help in improving academic standards,” Nyong’o added.
