Political activist Morara Kebaso has explained why he stopped asking Kenyans for money to fund his political activities.
Morara in a statement issued via his official X account on Monday, January 13, 2025, stated that his team had to pause asking for money online after feeling they were not giving people enough time to understand why they needed to fundraise.
According to Morara, he, together with his team, needed to give people time to develop trust.
“To those who are asking me why we stopped raising funds the answer is simple. We felt we were not giving people enough time to understand why we needed to fundraise. We needed to give people time to develop trust,” he stated.
He went ahead to hit at plans to resume the online fundraisers in the near future, with a different approach.
“To those who ask if we will raise funds in the future the answer is yes we will. This time it will be different. We have learnt from our mistakes,” he said.

Morara’s fundraisers
Morara rose to fame exposing abandoned projects and alleged corruption by the national government through social media.
He toured various projects across the country and exposed what he termed white elephant projects, in a series of videos he shares only, dubbed the Vampire Diaries .
This catapulted him to fame, with Kenyans raising funds to support his mission. He expanded his scope by unveiling a political party that he insisted was key to salvaging the country from graft.
With the help of Kenyans, Morara managed to buy a car fitted with a sound system to help him crisscross various parts of the country.
Morara’s accountability reports
However, he has since been asking Kenyans to contribute money for different activities associated with his activism works, leading to a fallout with some of his followers.
At some point, a section of Kenyans pushed him to account for the money he receives, forcing him to start issuing accountability reports that mostly captured the funds spent on fuel.
In November 2024, Morara released a financial accountability report, providing detailed guidelines for Kenyans on how to audit the expenditures of his Inject party.
He disclosed that a joint bank account with three signatories that they opened was available for audit monthly.
The youthful politician who has declared interest in the 2027 presidency stated that the audit report would be availed to anyone who visits the party’s finance office.
