Information, Communication and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominee William Kabogo has revealed that he has never dealt with drugs of any kind in his life.
Responding to Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohammed’s question when he appeared before the Committee on Appointments of the National Assembly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Kabogo insisted that he has never indulged nor engaged in drugs despite being labelled as a drug merchant in a dossier tabled in parliament by the late George Saitoti in 2010.
“This is a question I have dealt with the whole of my life since George Saitioti dropped names of suspected drug traffickers. I have never dealt with drugs of any kind all my life,” Kabogo said.
“It has continued to happen. You will still find some of us are named Pablo, but the truth is, I did take some people to court and took long, but the matter was settled. It is something I am bound to live with for the rest of myself.”
In jest, National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula responded by asking him if he has never dealt with medicinal drugs such as Panadol.
To which Kabogo responded by saying; “I do not think Junet was talking about panadol, but if they are the ones he was referring to, I have some in my pocket.”
He added that the dossier by Saitoti was a product of careless investigations.
“I ask Kenyans to look at the dossier brought to the House; even if it were to be presented to Inspector Mwala, it will not pass,” he added.
In the dossier, Saitoti, then an Internal Security Minister revealed the names of four MPs involved in suspected drug trafficking. He added that police were investigating the case.
