Amy Robach is recalling hitting a turning point in her marriage while on a work trip by herself.

“I was alone in this mansion that I had been put up in and no one else ended up staying there in the Seychelles with the Indian Ocean pounding below me, and I just thought, ‘Alone for three weeks? What?’” Robach, 51, said on the Thursday, January 23, episode of the “I Do, Part 2” podcast.

Robach’s boyfriend and cohost, T.J. Holmes, interjected to share what his mindset would have been if he were in the situation. “I would have gone, ‘Wow. This is awesome. I have this,’” Holmes, 47, said.

But for Robach, the moment led her to end her marriage. “The truth is I was married at the time, and those weeks gave me clarity of what I knew I wanted to do, which was [to] end my marriage,” she explained.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes broke down the ways they tried to hide from the public — and themselves — that their respective marriages were over. During the Monday, June 10, episode of their “Amy and T.J.” podcast, Holmes, 46, admitted that he and Robach, 51, would put on a front, saying, “We had very […]

Robach, who was previously married to Tim McIntosh from 1996 to 2009 and Andrew Shue from 2010 to 2023, did not name the ex-husband she was referring to.

While Robach was legally married to Shue, 57, she and fellow Good Morning America anchor Holmes sparked romance speculation in November 2022 when they were spotted getting cozy outside the office. At the time, Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig. (Robach and Shue share daughters Ava and Annalise while Holmes and Fiebig, 47, are parents to daughter Sabine. Holmes also shares daughter Brianna and son Jaiden with ex-wife Amy Ferson.)

Following news of their affair, Robach and Holmes exited GMA3: What You Need to Know in 2023. Robach and Holmes both filed for divorce and have since claimed that their respective marriages were over before their relationship turned romantic. Shue and Fiebig, for their part, also began dating in late 2023.

While the “next step” in Robach and Holmes’ relationship would be to tie the knot, a source exclusively told Us Weekly in December 2024 that the pair are not in a rush to walk down the aisle. The insider added that Robach “feels the way it will last is if they put healthy boundaries and communication in place.”

“I say that based on my exclusive conversations with the bride,” he quipped. “I say that because we are not trying to figure things out. We are not trying to see if we want to be together. We’re not trying to do a trial run to see if this thing can work. That’s not where we are.”

For Holmes, the “decision has been made” about him and Robach growing old together. “When we are getting married, that’s going to be a byproduct of what’s happening. And it’s coming,” he explained before Robach added, “We’ve talked about marriage. We haven’t talked about a wedding. And there is a difference between the two.”
