Don’t call The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Heather Gay a mean girl.

Andy Cohen read a fan question during the RHOSLC season 5 reunion on Wednesday, January 22, in which the viewer claimed that Heather’s “edge” came from her recent weight loss.

“Can you see how you were giving mean girl energy this season?” the question read.

Heather, 50, appeared shocked when hearing the question.

“I mean, that’s just an interesting read,” Heather responded. “I guess when I was heavier, I was more of an underdog. So it was OK when I stuck up for myself. Season 1 Heather had a lot more confidence than this girl.”

Real Housewives such as Kyle Richards have addressed whether they used diabetes medication Ozempic for weight loss. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star sparked speculation about using the drug after she debuted her slimmed-down figure in January 2023 via a bikini selfie. Richards then opened up about how her decision to cut back on alcohol […]

She continued, “This show strips you of your ego. It strips you of your confidence. When I was heavier, I had to fight a lot harder battles and I was a lot meaner.

Heather said she brought “a lot more anger and rage” in the past.

Mary Cosby was quick to chime in with kind words to her costar.

“I just feel like Heather is different. She likes herself more,” Mary said. “She’s pouring more love into herself. I feel like when I first met Heather five years ago, she was very dark, she was not happy. She was trying to climb out of a really deep place that she had been left in from whoever ridiculed her, whoever tore her down.”

Mary called Heather “self-assured,” noting that the Good Time Girl author is “more confident” to come after one of her costars.

“You have to have a lot more confidence to show up when no clothes fit. I’m wearing a stretchy jumpsuit, I’m next to all these beautiful women,” Heather added. “I have confidence in spades to do this whole show.”

Heather said that she’s “happy” and “proud” of how far she’s come.

“I don’t want that to make me meaner,” she continued. “I am different, but it has nothing to do with the fact that I took medication that made me lose weight.”

Heather revealed in November 2023 that she was on Ozempic, a semaglutide developed to treat type 2 diabetes but has been used as a popular weight loss drug.

“I’ve been on it for a long time, but hadn’t really seen much results,” she shared during an interview with People at the time. “I haven’t had massive results, but enough for people to notice, which is great.”

The RHOSLC star further spoke about her weight loss journey during the IMPACT x Nightline: The Skinny Confessions: After Ozempic docuseries, which premiered via Hulu in February 2024.

“It’s disappointing [and] sad to know that body positivity was all a big lie,” she confessed at the time. “Because it’s better to not be overweight.”
