MP Salasya explains why he hasn’t travelled outside Africa

Mumias East Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has disclosed the reasons why he has neither travelled outside Africa nor gone on a vacation trip ever since he was elected.

Taking to his Instagram account on Friday, January 31, 2025, Salasya, while giving a glimpse of the mansion he is constructing in his rural home in Kisumu Ndogo, Mumias East Sub-County, Kakamega County, pointed out that the project is the reason why he has not toured the world or taken a lady out on a date.

Lamenting about the high cost of construction, the youthful legislature says that his project is delayed due to the high price of the construction materials.

He questioned the purpose of the affordable housing project if the key components in construction were expensive.

Tangu nichaguliwe kuwa mubunge sijai peleka dem date ata mombasa ama wapi na sijai enda vacation trip na sijai kanyaga outside Africa na save tu hadi hii iishe.

“Though construction in Kenya is now very expensive simiti iko juu chuma iko juu sijui hii idea ya affordable housing its purpose was what? If we increased the prices of key components in construction juu yangu ni private but also providing employment though it’s delaying due to the high cost of construction,” Salasya said.

Before starting the construction, the vocal MP on Sunday, October 6, 2024, took to his official Instagram account to flaunt stunning images of the mansion plan, which he said he would build to shame his political opponents who really criticised him during the 2022 political campaigns.

The lawmaker said he would use his mortgage to put up the multi-million mansion in his rural home because he would dwell in the village to pursue agriculture after quitting politics.

“I have decided to build this house through my mortgage at my home village of Kisumu Ndogo of Mumias East just because when I leave politics I will stay in my village, nikifanya agriculture,” Salasya stated.
