The accident
The accident occurred in the Josa area on the Wundanyi-Mwatate road when the ill-fated minibus suffered brake failure and crashed at the dangerous Josa bend.
The students were returning home after a second fire incident at their school, which forced the school administration to close the institution and send students home.
Additionally, the driver of the minibus and a parent who had gone to pick up their child from the school also lost their lives. The survivors were rushed to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment, with others taken to St. Joseph Mission Hospital in Voi.
