‘Naweza walipa nyinyi wote hapa Ksh2K’

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has criticized politicians who use money to incite citizens against one another instead of focusing on delivering services to the people.

Speaking to traders and residents of Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County on Sunday, February 2, 2025, Sudi addressed the crowd that had recently suffered losses worth millions of shillings following a suspected gas explosion last week.

He urged his fellow leaders to concentrate on initiatives that uplift communities rather than sowing division through the distribution of handouts.

Sudi criticized the tendency of some politicians to offer small amounts of money to incite conflict among residents instead of addressing pressing community needs.

He highlighted the disparity between leaders and the people they represent, noting that while leaders often enjoy better living conditions and access to superior healthcare, they resort to giving out cash to manipulate the public.

“Leo jioni, sisi tunaenda makwetu, manyumba tunaishi inashinda yenu, hospitali tunaenda inashinda yenu, sasa mimi badala ya kukusaidia, nikupe Ksh500 kukupiganisha na mwingine. Iyo ni haki kweli? Sai nikikasirika naeza pangisha line na niwapee Ksh2000. Tulikubaliana tukasema ii kaunti tutafanya kazi kwa pamoja. Uasin Gishu ni yetu sisi sote, tutatembea kote tufanye kazi,” Sudi said.

He emphasized the need for unity in Uasin Gishu County, insisting that all leaders had agreed to work together for the betterment of the region. Sudi stressed that the county belongs to everyone and that development should reach all corners through collective effort.

Sudi dismissed any attempts to intimidate him, boldly declaring his financial independence. He claimed he had enough resources to hand out substantial sums of money if he wished but refused to engage in such tactics, urging people to reject foolishness and focus on progress instead.

“Mimi sio maskini. Niko na pesa mingi sana. Naweza walipa nyinyi wote hapa elfu mbili mbili. Mimi sio mtu wa kutishwa. Wacheni ujinga!” Sudi remarked.

“Huwezi nunulia vijana wetu pombe, kama nikwasaidia, empower them with jobs. Mimi nimekuja apa niko na pesa ya watu tano, niko na pesa ya kusidia hawa watu, badala you mobilise pesa na amani. Mimi huwezi nitisha, mimi ni mtu nilikuwa makanga,” he added.

The lawmaker urged leaders to prioritize development and unity. He stressed the importance of using resources wisely to benefit the public rather than sowing discord.

“It is such a shame that some leaders have chosen to get tangled in petty politics. We should be racing against the clock to deliver services to wananchi. Use resources to empower, not to incite!”
