The Clinical Officers Council has suspended the licenses of Dias Wabwile Juma, the Pandya Hospital clinician facing rape charges.
In a statement on Wednesday, Febraury 5, 2025, the council CEO Ibrahim Wako revealed that council had reached a decision to suspend the Juma’s license pending full investigation into the allegations.
Wabwile was on February 3, 2025, charged in a Mombasa court with raping a dialysis patient in a private hospital.
The renal doctor was charged with intentionally and unlawfully raping the patient on January 31, 2025. He is also facing charges of groping and engaging in sexual conversations with the victim before raping her.
The council has confirmed that the accused is a qualified clinical officer specialising in Nephrology with a valid practising license.
The council has strongly condemned the incident, emphasizing its non-tolerant stance on cases of professional misconduct.
“The Clinical Officers Council strongly condemns any form of unethical or criminal conduct and is committed to ensuring that all health care professionals adhere to the highest ethical standards,” the statement read in part.
“In the meantime, due to the gravity of the matter, the council has decided to suspend the practising license of the said officer pending investigations.”
In addition, the council has revealed it has opened its own investigation into the matter despite having not received any official complaint over the incident.
Among the steps taken include the dispatch of a team of officers to Pandya Hospital to initiate a comprehensive investigation for the council to make an informed decision.

The clinician body further reiterated its commitment to comply with law enforcement as it promised to pursue appropriate disciplinary measures following due process.
The sexual assault incident has elicited public outrage with rights and civil group bodies condemning the incident.
Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya demanded a thorough investigation into the case.
The federation further demanded that the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and the Nursing Council of Kenya suspend the licenses of those involved until investigations are complete.
“The hospital has taken all legal and procedural steps required of it as an institution, which steps led to the arrest of a medical personnel who is assisting police with investigations. The victims received the required immediate care, and a counsellor has been assigned to her by the hospital,” the statement read.
