‘You need to be trained’ – Mzungu sponsor who met Bungoma Goliath expresses desire to enlist him in basketball

A Mzungu sponsor, known on TikTok as @KingofTravel, who recently traveled to Kenya to meet Bungoma Goliath, Isaac Otesa, has expressed his keen interest in helping him venture into basketball due to his remarkable height.

In a video shared on Otesa’s close friend Chali wa Kibera’s TikTok account on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the sponsor highlighted that Otesa’s towering stature could be a significant advantage in the sport and encouraged him to start considering it seriously.

This came after Otesa, while engaging in an interview with him, responded that he had never played basketball, prompting the mzungu to express his desire to help him find direction in a sport where his physical attributes would naturally give him an edge.

“So let me ask you a question, man—do you have any basketball skills, or do you need to be trained?” the sponsor inquired.

“I don’t,” Otesa admitted, looking down at the sponsor.

“You need to be trained, I see. Okay, that’s the work,” the Mzungu sponsor responded.

Bringing Bungoma Goliath to America

Four days prior, the sponsor had taken to his TikTok page to announce that he was inviting Otesa to America and was willing to cover all expenses, including flights, hotel accommodations, and other necessary arrangements.

He also mentioned that he would take care of Otesa’s passport application if he didn’t already have one, urging him to start working on it immediately so that they could begin planning his trip.

“Goliath wa Bungoma, what’s good, brother? Listen, I want to invite you to America. You know what I’m saying? I’ll take care of all the accommodations. But first, I need you to start working on your passport for me,” the sponsor had said in his earlier video.

Otesa’s unexpected request

Isaac, who had recently expressed admiration for how well things were unfolding for his fellow towering competitor, Bradley Marongo, later had the opportunity to join the sponsor in a live stream—just two days before the mzungu’s arrival in Kenya.

However, while Kenyans eagerly tuned in and flooded the live with suggestions on what he should request from the sponsor, many were left utterly stunned when he unexpectedly asked the mzungu to fund a vacation for him to Mombasa, saying he needed a place to relax while awaiting the visa process.

Isaac’s request came after the sponsor had laid out his plans, stating that he intended for Otesa to visit the U.S. for 30 days, during which they would collaborate on content while also treating it as a tour for him.

He reassured him that he would assist in securing a travel visa for the trip.

The sponsor even instructed him to keep him updated on every step of the process to remain in sync, emphasizing that he was serious about taking him to the United States.

“I want you to start getting your passport in order. Keep me updated on everything, and I’m going to work on securing your visa. My plan is to give him at least a 30-day tour of America, but at the same time, I want him to work on a project. So, go ahead and get your passport sorted,” the sponsor stated.
