Traitors’ Boston Rob Reveals If He Has Issues With Anyone Before Reunion

Is Boston Rob Mariano ready to reunite with costars from The Traitors after playing such a devious game?

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Boston Rob, 49, revealed he has no concerns about crossing paths with the cast, adding, “I got no issues with anybody. I’m good to go.”

Despite his nonchalant attitude, Boston Rob is aware that his approach could elicit some strong opinions.

“Going in, I didn’t know I was going to be a Traitor. But when I was definitely [part of the group], I let [Bob the Drag Queen, Danielle Reyes and Carolyn Wiger] drive and I was going to just sit back. I did the first couple votes,” he recalled. “I guess I’m guilty because I let it happen. But I’m the type of person [who] once I see something, I cannot unsee it. I won’t lie to myself. I won’t pretend.”

Inspired by Dutch series De Verraders (which previously led to a popular U.K. version), The Traitors brings together celebrities, especially reality TV stars, from different franchises — including Survivor, Big Brother, Real Housewives and more — as they compete in a mafia-style game for up to $250,000.

Usually Traitors work together to take down — and confuse — the Faithfuls. But Boston Rob set an unexpected predicament this season, which premiered last month, when he convinced the Faithfuls to vote for Bob the Drag Queen even though they were both Traitors.

“Once Bob tried to put Carolyn in that coffin and then once he called out the cage boys, I couldn’t just sit there and be a passenger in a car going over a cliff,” he recalled. “I got to grab the wheel. I gotta do what I have to do and then I’m going to drive.”

Boston Rob wouldn’t be surprised if future Traitors end up following in his footsteps, adding, “Now every single Traitor in the back of their mind is going to think that another Traitor is trying to set them up. So there are a lot of things about this game that — inevitably because of this season — will be viewed differently.”

Despite being the one to lead the banishment charge for several weeks, Boston Rob was ultimately voted out.

“I went in there with the intention of putting up a good fight and making a good case for myself. I really didn’t know what direction I was going to go until I got there,” he admitted to Us. “It was not until I got there — but we didn’t have a lot of time to talk after that last challenge. So I kind of decided I was going to come up with this idea that Britney [Haynes] was the one that was smart enough to figure out a way because why would I do it?”

Boston Rob found it ironic that Tom Sandoval — who lives in Vanderpump Rules infamy — was the one to question his motivations, saying, “To his credit, he was right. But I was relying on them to think a step ahead. I killed a lot of the gamers early so that hurt my case. But I think at the end I wasn’t sure. I was like 50/50 one way or another.”

Whether competing on TV for a cash prize or simply being filmed while living your day-to-day life, reality television stars almost always get a paycheck — and it may be bigger than you think. While Boston Rob didn’t make it to the end, he didn’t have many regrets.

“I stand by what I did. But maybe I wouldn’t have tried to direct the vote to [Bob the Drag Queen] right away, but I did. As soon as I said it, I couldn’t unsay it,” he recalled. “Truthfully, that round table was going either Nikki [Garcia] or Ciara Miller. I’m the one that steered it back to Bob because it was going that way and I could have kept my mouth shut and it would’ve went that way.”

He continued: “I feel like once I opened that can of worms, I couldn’t put them back in. Maybe I wouldn’t have said it right away but I perceived the threat as imminent. The way I play these games, you are with me or you’re against me so as soon as I see it, I got to kill you.”

New episodes of The Traitors will be released on Peacock Thursdays until March 6.
