Beyond the Gates is about to shake up daytime television with the first-of-its-kind soap opera presented by CBS. Just outside of Washington DC, sits an affluent, and predominantly Black gated community.

Beyond the Gates centers on a powerful bunch called the Dupree family. Much like the foundation of any soap, fans ride a rollercoaster of love and loss, hate and disdain, along with some physical contact from each end of this emotional spectrum.
Beyond the Gates marks the first Black-led soap in the daytime line-up in over 35 years. And it promises something different. So, soaps have gone way overboard through the years when taking liberty with reality.
But this soap promises something different. No one is among the dead as a walking zombie. Plus, you won’t find a character strolling off a UFO with a changed personality. And this is because the team of writers dedicates themselves to “authentic storytelling”.
Anita Dupree – The Center of This New Venue
Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) is the matriarch of the Dupree family, and she looks like one classy lady. But from the Beyond the Gates previews, she is also one ruthless lady. Although, it sounds like her survival depends on it.
She is a loving mom, who was once a singer. Anita created a world for herself by hiding her less-than-stellar secrets. But while this soap promises to be different, those secrets slowly emerge, much like the foundation for any soap opera.
So, when Anita’s world is threatened by these hidden secrets surfacing, the lifestyle she built for her and her family is at risk. And how far she is willing to go to keep it all together leads to some jaw-dropping scenes.
Beyond the Gates: Dupree Family Carefully Constructed by Anita
Much of what you see within the Dupree family results from the facade carefully orchestrated by Anita Dupree. So, when Beyond the Gates rolls out, the glitz and the glam hide long-buried secrets.
This begins the battle to keep things status quo. But the folks who bring us Beyond the Gates say this is much more than run-of-the-mill soap. It boasts more than 40 cast members and 27 sets. So, all these possibilities could stave off the boredom soap fans often experience with dragged-out storylines.
So, it sounds as if Beyond the Gates is not a soap where bad hair days stir up a crisis. Instead, they delve into the predominant topics of the day, like “race, class, and privilege”. The writers want topics to be relatable to the viewers.
Viewers “getting hooked” on this new soap is just one prediction. Critics suggest it’s easy to be enticed with the soap’s storylines. A lot of attention went into the visuals for the screen. The settings and wardrobes scream filthy rich surroundings. The people who bring you Beyond the Gates suggest this soap ushers in a new era of daytime television.
