Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto orchestrated a political scheme by using Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse to drive a wedge between Kikuyu and Kamba communities.

Speaking during a live interview on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Gachagua said that the impeachment motion tabled by Mutuse was used as a decoy to spark tensions between the two communities.

Raisi alitumia mbunge anaitwa Mutuse, alimwambia kwenda leta mjadala ya kufukuza Riggy G ndio watu wa Mlima Kenya wachukie watu wa Ukambani, lakini sisi tuliwaonea mbali,” Gachagua said

According to Gachagua, Mutuse did not act independently adding that Mt Kenya leaders saw through the plan early on and refused to be drawn into conflict.

The second deputy president further praised Kamba leaders, including Senators and MPs, for standing firm during his impeachment case adding that he is grateful to them for their solidarity, emphasizing that their unity had strengthened ties between the two GEMA communities.

Gachagua on GEMA unity

Advocating for a strong political alliance between the Kikuyu and Kamba communities, Gachagua stated that if united they could yield significant political power.

He went on to point out the past elections as proof of their unity while referencing the massive support former governor Mike Sonko received from both communities during his successful bid for the Nairobi governorship.

He further stated that with well-structured political agreements between the Mt Kenya region and the Wiper Party, they will secure multiple political positions in Nairobi County, adding that their joint forces could see their alliance clinch the governorship, Senate seat, and a majority of parliamentary positions.
