So You Think You Can Dance alum Allison Holker shared details of late husband Stephen tWitch Boss’ death in her newly released book, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light. According to Holker, Boss experienced “trauma and abandonment issues” in his childhood and speculated that the couple’s social media presence “probably became a stressor” before Boss died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022. In the months leading up to his death, Holker claimed Boss had more opportunity to “poke around” in the “dark corners of his mind” without the “structure and rhythm” provided by his job on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which ended in May 2022. Holker also admitted that she “might have overlooked” some signs that pointed to Boss’ struggles, recalling his “irritability, insomnia, weight loss, a lack of energy, a disinterest in work and friends and fun” and changes with his personal hygiene. “Stephen always saw himself as the protector of me and the kids — our Superman — and in the wake of his death I feel a duty to be his,” Holker wrote.
