A fresh wave of sadness and agony has engulfed a family in Kiamagera Village in Kisii County following their deceased daughter’s impressive performance in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Mitchelle Kemunto who scored a B- in the 2024 KCSE sadly passed away aged 19 two days after completing her national examinations.
Her distraught family disclosed that the latest development marks a fresh wound which will forever be engraved in their hearts.
Led by her mother, Vane Moraa who says her daughter aspired to be a doctor, the family revealed that the 19-year-old’s demise comes as a blow to the family, hoping to produce its first doctor.
Addressing the media, a teary Moraa revealed that her beloved daughter died after a long battle with epilepsy, she eulogised her daughter as a go-getter who would stop at nothing to achieve her dreams.
She recalled that she was adamant about confirming her late daughter’s results and only did so two days after the official release.
Her uncle, Joseph Ombati, also shared that the impressive performance is a bittersweet moment that re-opens a fresh wound in their lives.
“She was epileptic, tulikua tunamanage ugonjwa akiendelea kusoma, upto date 15 akamaliza exam. Sikua na nguvu ya kutuma hio mtihani, nlikaa siku mbili sasa ndio nimepigia mwalimu mkuu wa hio shule ameniambia she had a B-,” Moraa said.
“Sisi sote tuko na hio wound na ni mbichi kwa sababu imeongezeka maradufu kwa minajili ya matokeo ya hio mtihani,” her uncle added.
