Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are reportedly seeking to dismiss Justin Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit against them. According to Variety, the couple informed a federal judge of their intentions on Thursday, January 30, shortly before their attorneys are due in court for the case’s first hearing. Lively sued Baldoni — her director and costar of the film It Ends With Us — for sexual harassment in December 2024, claiming he created a “hostile work environment” on the movie’s set. Baldoni denied the accusations before filing his own lawsuit against The New York Times for its reporting on Lively’s claims. In a second suit filed by Baldoni, Lively and her husband — as well as the actress’ publicist — were accused of civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy and more. Lively’s legal team responded to Baldoni’s “desperate” strategy, arguing that the defamation suit “attempts to turn the tables on the victim.” A trial date was set for March 9, 2026.
