Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, presided over the issuance of 3,601 title deeds in Taita Taveta County.
The latest comes as part of the government’s efforts to resolve the issues of land grappling various parts of the country.
Beneficiaries of the initiative include residents of Chala Njukini who received 1,301 title deeds, and Eldoro residents who received 2,300 title deeds.
Speaking after the issuance of the crucial documents, Kindiki highlighted the importance of title deeds saying land ownership by possession of a title deed has huge social and economic benefits.
He also revealed plans to establish two new land registries in the county to ensure effective land-related services in the county.
“Expediting the issuance of title deeds across the Country is a key deliverable of the Kenya Kwanza Administration.
“The government will gazette two new land registries in Taveta and Voi, Taita Taveta County and across the country to facilitate easier and more effective service delivery,” the CS said.
Kindiki was accompanied by Members of Parliament (MPs) John Bwire (Taveta), Haika Mizighi (Woman Representative, Taita Taveta County), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania West), Principal Secretary(Lands) Nixon Korir, Members of Taita Taveta County Assembly and community leaders.
