‘He was my first love’ – Eric Omondi’s ex-Italian girlfriend Chantal reveals
Chantal Juliet Grazioli, the ex-girlfriend of Kenyan veteran comedian Eric Omondi, has for the first time shared insights into their relationship.
Speaking during a candid interview with Oga Obbina on Monday, February 18, 2025, Chantal revealed that she began dating Omondi during her teenage years, adding that they first met at an event she was attending in Kenya with her aunt and mother.
During the interview, Chantal further admitted that she was not initially interested in the comedian, but over time, she fell in love, and they eventually started dating, adding that Omondi was the only Kenyan celebrity she knew at that time.
“Me and Eric met in Kenya at the @50 event. I think he was doing comedy. Nilikuwa nimeenda with my aunt and mum. That is where we first met, and he asked me out after some weeks that I was still in Kenya. We went out.
“In the beginning, I was not into Eric. Eric was my first love. I was so young; I was like 18 years old, nilikuwa 18,19 hapo when I started dating Eric. He was actually the only celebrity I knew in Kenya,” Chantal said.
Reminiscing about the good old memory of their relationship, Chantal shared that she and Omondi had a lot of fun together, travelled extensively, and experienced many adventures during their four or five years of dating.
“We had so much fun; we travelled and we did so much with Eric, tulidate, like four or five years,” she added.
Break up
She went on to mention that their separation was a mutual decision, influenced by the difficulties of maintaining a long-distance relationship, as her family resides in Italy. She expressed that, despite the breakup, they remained on good terms and cherished the moments they shared.
Apart from the long distance, she added that their paths were not aligning due to the age gap.
“Tulidate for a long time, and my life was between Kenya and Italy, so I was always travelling back and forth, back and forth. I was very young, and I wanted to do some things, and maybe Eric was approving of some things he wanted to do, and I was not approving of.
” I just saw our paths zilikuwa zinawachana and then some behaviours I did not like, I felt I was making him not to do some things he wanted to do because I was there, vile tuliachana he started doing wife material and he could not do it when I was there.
“We talked about it. I was in Italy, na tuliwachana on good terms,” she added.
Omondi’s and Chantal’s relationship began in 2015 and ended in 2019 due to challenges posed by long-distance and career aspirations.
