Media personality and one of the event organisers of the Furaha City Festival, Willis Raburu, has released a statement after Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz failed to perform at the event as scheduled.
In the statement shared via his official X account on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Raburu explained how their efforts were futile after ensuring all plans to accommodate Diamond and his team for a seamless experience were in place.
He added that Diamond’s demand and his team’s behaviour at the event were regrettable.
“We deeply regret to announce that Diamond Platnumz did not perform at the Furaha City Festival as scheduled. As organizers, we made every effort to accommodate him and his team, ensuring that all plans and contingencies were in place for a seamless experience. Despite our best efforts, his team behaviour and demands proved regrettable and unnecessarily overbearing,” Raburu stated.
In addition, the former TV host stated that the event organizers respect the Bongo singer’s decision, adding that they also expect mutual professionalism and respect in such collaborations from the artiste.
Assuring fans of the greater and more successful future editions of the Furaha City Festival, the father of two disclosed that they are committed to resolving yesterday’s saga amicably.
“We respect Diamond Platnumz’s position as a top-tier artist, but we also expect mutual professionalism and respect in such collaborations. Moving forward, we are committed to resolving these matters amicably and learning from this experience to ensure even greater success for future editions of Furaha City Festival,” he added.
Willis on event’s outcome
Meanwhile, he acknowledged that there was a minor security issue involving an artiste who was invited to the show, but they resolved it, and the event continued safely and professionally.
He further commended all the artistes who performed at the Furaha City festival and made the event successful.
“While we acknowledge there was a minor security issue involving another artiste, we swiftly resolved it and ensured that the event continued in a safe and professional manner. We believe in treating all artists equally and maintaining high-quality standards for everyone involved.
“We are, however, incredibly proud of the remarkable performances delivered by all the other artists. Kenyan artists outdid themselves, and we are proud. Their impeccable talent, energy, and professionalism were evident throughout the festival, and they gave their all to ensure the audience had an unforgettable experience. We thank Rayvanny and Wasafi’s Zuchu for their performance as well,” he stated.
Rapuru’s sentiments come after those who attended the event voiced their frustrations over Diamond’s failure to perform as scheduled.
