Reverse Call is a service that allows a Safaricom customer to make a call with or without airtime, and the recipient of the call pays for the charges on behalf of the caller.
Eligibility
All Safaricom subscribers are eligible to use the Reverse Call service.
How To make a Reverse Call
To make a Reverse Call, the caller needs to dial # followed by the recipient’s phone number (e.g., #07XX XXX XXX).
Notification to Recipient
When the recipient answers the call, they receive an announcement prompting them to either accept or decline the call by pressing 1 to accept or 2 to decline.
Charges
The person receiving the call will only be charged once they accept the call, and the charges will be at normal call rates.
Recipient’s Actions
If the recipient accepts the call, they will be charged for it at normal call rates.
If the recipient declines the call, both the caller and the recipient will not be charged.
If the recipient neither accepts nor declines, the call will be disconnected.
Handling Mistakes
If the recipient presses the wrong key, the call will not go through until they select the correct key.
Network Limitation
Reverse Call is only available for calls within the Safaricom network. It cannot be used for calls to other networks.
Insufficient Balance
A Reverse Call will not go through if the person receiving the call does not have sufficient airtime or minutes.
Bonga Points
Only the person receiving the call will earn Bonga Points, as they are the ones paying for the call.
International Calls
Reverse Call cannot be used for making international calls; it is limited to local calls only.
