Ugandan entrepreneur and internet sensation Shakib Cham Lutaaya has yet again opened up on the challenges he has faced in his marriage life.
In a statement posted on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Shakib disclosed that after officiating his marriage to Ugandan socialite, entrepreneur, and reality TV star Zarinah Hassan, alias Zari the Boss Lady, he has faced a lot of criticism.
It is remembered that Zari is a few years older than Shakib, and most of the criticism he faced was based on the age difference.
“Personally, I’ve faced a lot of criticism before the show, especially after becoming Zari’s husband,” he revealed.
Reality show
Shakib, who is now featured in season three of the reality TV show dubbed Young, Famous & African on Netflix, went on to say that the show has allowed him to showcase his true self.
In addition, he noted that as a cast member, his personality and what he does are documented and that people will have to know him well besides being Zari’s husband.
He further asked his followers to give their honest opinions about him based on the episodes of Young, Famous & African that have been aired.
“Now that I’ve had a chance to show my true self on the show, I’d love to hear your honest thoughts – what do you think of my performance so far? It’s been five days since Season 3 of #YoungRichAndFamous premiered! How do you think it’s going so far?” He asked.
Shakib has credited his wife for making him a Netflix star and pushing him to pursue his dreams, noting how grateful he is after being part of the much-talked-about reality TV show.
“Hey wife, just wanted to say thanks for making me a Netflix star. Here’s to many more moments of joy, love, and Netflix fame.
“Love of my life, I just want to take a moment to express my gratitude for believing in me and pushing me to pursue my dreams. Being featured in ‘Young, Famous, and African’ is a dream come true, and I couldn’t have done it without your love and support. Thank you for being my rock,” he added.
Marriage drama
In August 2024, the internet was on fire following the online outburst between Shakib and Zari, which was fueled by Zari’s ex-husband Diamond Platinumz’s visit to her residence in South Africa.
Shakib, who seemed unhappy with his wife’s close relationship with Diamond, went online to lament how he was left out of the loop about the singer’s visit and Zari disrespecting him.
In response to Shakib’s outburst, the mother of five took to her social media to address the issue, claiming his reaction is rooted in unwarranted insecurity, adding that her ex’s surprise visit was solely for their daughter as she celebrated her special day.
“Let me tell you something, if I want to get back to Diamond I can be back. If Diamond wants to get back to me he can be back. But we are so over each other. I don’t want him, he doesn’t want me; I have a husband, he has a girlfriend.
“Me, Zari the boss lady, I am a millionaire, I am intelligent. I can be with whoever I want, but I chose my husband, and I don’t care how you guys see him, ‘Oh, he is broke, he is not good enough.’ I chose to be with him, but he has to put me through this. Ai my guy, you better change, my guy, you better recognize…” she remarked.
However, Zari later on apologized to her husband after the social media outburst.
