‘I was just having fun’

Internet sensation Bradley Marongo alias Gen Z Goliath has come out to set the record straight after a section of fans expressed concern over a video of him playing with a lioness at a Dubai zoo.

In the video that brewed debate across various social media platforms, the social media sensation is seen kneeling on his fours as if mimicking an animal, as the lioness controlled by Dubai’s Zam Zam brothers played with him.

A section of netizens stormed his comment section to criticize the act saying it was demeaning and dehumanising.

Just content

Bradley has issued a statement explaining that the video was only for content purposes and that he participated willingly. He added that the act was not in any way harmful or disrespectful as it was carefully thought out for entertaining content.

“I want to say that this was never about anything harmful or disrespectful. What you saw was just me having fun and creating content. The Zam Zam brothers have been nothing but kind to me since I have been in Dubai. I know some of you are saying this is “Modern Slavery” but thats not the case. If you take a look at the Zam Zam brothers pages, you will see they have been doing similar content with other content creators too and nothing negative has come out of it,” he said.

“The intention behind the video was simply to make something fun for the fans, and I want to assure you all there was no malice involved. I understand that it might seem unsual, but this was just part of the creative processs that we go through as content creators. Sometimes things go well, other times they don’t, and we learn from those moments. I respect all your concerns and appreciate you caring about me, but there was no harm done, and I was never in any danger.

“Going forward, I will be more thoughtful about the content I create and share. Your feedback is important to me and I always listen to what you have to say. You my fellow Kenyans are the reason I am here, and your support means the world to me. Thank you for always having my back and let’s continue supporting each other in all that we do,” he added.
