According to Jane Gaudreau, her late sons, Johnny and Matthew, are celebrating the news that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl.
“I know two incredibly happy fans in heaven,” Jane wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, January 26, alongside a photo of the Gaudreau brothers wearing personalized Philadelphia Eagles jerseys. “GO BIRDS!!!!!! Going to the Super Bowl for the boys!!! One more win.”
In light of the Eagles’ win, Jane also shared a heartfelt quote via her Instagram Story, which read, “The biggest gift they gave us? Their love. And thankfully, Love didn’t leave when they did. It stays, woven into the lessons they taught us, the memories we hold.”
The quote continued, “Who we are today carries traces of who they were, proof that love doesn’t end — it stays. The love always stays.”

She also shared the same image of her sons via X on Sunday as well, writing in the caption, “Miss and love you boys!” with two green heart emojis.
The Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9. The Philadelphia team advanced to Super Bowl LIX after their victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game earlier on Sunday.
This moment of celebration comes after a devastating 2024 for the Gaudreau family, when brothers Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were struck by a drunk driver in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on August 29, 2024, while riding their bicycles. Both brothers died on the scene.
Earlier this month, Sean M. Higgins, the man accused of killing Johnny and Matthew, pleaded not guilty to all charges, including first-degree manslaughter, during his January 7 arraignment hearing in New Jersey. Higgins’ blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time.
It was revealed at the arraignment that Higgins was offered a 35-year prison sentence if he pleaded guilty to both aggravated manslaughter charges and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. In an email to The Athletic, Higgins’ lawyers Richard F. Klineburger and Matthew Portella explained the reasoning behind their client’s not guilty plea.
“We believe that the facts of this case will reveal that this tragedy was not the result of any malfeasance but rather a combination of uniquely unfortunate circumstances unlikely to ever occur again,” the email read, in part. Higgins’ next court date is scheduled for February 4.
As for Jane, she was able to celebrate the birth of her grandson Tripp, the first baby for her late son Matthew and his wife, Madeline Gaudreau. Tripp was born in December 2024 just four months after his dad’s tragic death.
“Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop’s hearts are overflowing with love for you, Tripp Matthew,” Jane shared via her Instagram Story on December 29, 2024, referencing her husband, Guy. “We are so incredibly proud of you and your mommy and I know your Daddy is too! 💙.”
