Some fans think Taylor Swift’s fashion may have helped lead to the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC Championship win.
“Swifties noticed that she may have been wearing a similar skirt [to the 2024 and 2025 AFC Championships],” Jenna Bush Hager shared on the Monday, January 27, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. “I mean, y’all, it’s just a black skirt. But she wore that at last year’s playoffs, so everyone’s saying it must be her lucky skirt.”
While her guest host Kelsea Ballerini said she could “see the similarity” between the skirts, she doesn’t think Swift’s clothing choice played a part in the Chiefs’ latest victory. “Here’s what I’m gonna argue. I wonder if it’s not the skirt that’s good luck, it’s just Taylor Swift that is good luck,” Ballerini, 31, said. “I don’t think Taylor needs a lucky skirt. I think she’s just Taylor Swift. She is the essence of luck.”
Bush Hager, 43, pointed out that Swift, 35, is well-known for her lucky No. 13, so it may not be far-fetched that the Grammy winner would have a lucky skirt. “I think it’s just in her blood,” Ballerini stated, to which Bush Hager added, “She just oozes winning. The Chiefs should really thank her.”

Swift sported an oversized Louis Vuitton sweatshirt and matching beanie to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, January 26. Underneath the jacket, she wore the notable black skirt and red tights and completed the ensemble with black combat boots and a black purse.
Swift also rocked a pop of red at the 2024 AFC Championships last year, wearing a bright red sweater over the black miniskirt and a pair of black tights. (Swift has not confirmed whether the skirts from both looks are indeed the same.)
The Chiefs earned their Super Bowl LIX spot by defeating the Buffalo Bills during Sunday’s AFC Championship. The team will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9.

Ballerini, for her part, looked stylish for her Jenna & Friends hosting debut, sporting a sleeveless white maxi dress with a sheer skirt and matching white heels. The “Miss Me More” singer is one of several celebrities who have joined Bush Hager as her fourth hour of Today cohost since Hoda Kotb’s exit from the NBC morning show earlier this month.
Though Ballerini “didn’t have a team in the race” during Sunday’s AFC and NFC Championships, she is excited to celebrate the Super Bowl in one of the team’s home cities. “My show in Philly is the day after the Super Bowl and we have the day off in Philly the day of the Super Bowl,” she shared, noting she will find the “diviest of dive bars” with “sticky floors” to watch the big game.
She also noted that her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, is “trying to help me understand” the ins and outs of football. “He’s very patient with that,” she gushed.
