While I’ve always been skeptical about celebrity skincare lines, I am a fan of celebrity fragrances. The industry has seen a major shake-up since the glory days (aka the early 2000s) when almost every famous person concocted their own noteworthy scent. There wasn’t much commotion in the celebrity fragrance space in the 2010s, but recently, there’s been a star-studded resurgence. The latest icon to launch their own signature perfume? None other than Khloé Kardashian.
The mogul’s namesake scent — aptly named XO Khloé — is far from what you’d expect from a member of the Kardashian family. First off, there’s no hint of branding on the crystal bottle. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought this was a Cartier fragrance due to the chiseled design of the elegant vessel. As someone who collects (and displays) fragrances, the look alone earned it a front-and-center spot on my shelf.

A pretty exterior is one thing, but does the juice inside match the sophisticated energy? At first, I was conflicted. However, after wearing this for multiple days, Kardashian’s scent has pleasantly surprised me, taking my nose on a wild journey and solidifying its status as one of the top celebrity fragrances to launch this year.
While the initial spritz is a bit underwhelming (and has a strong alcohol tinge) I encourage you to give it a minute to settle. A little patience is needed to get the full experience and appreciate all that XO Khloé has to offer. The delicately layered scent beautifully evolves.
It starts airy and fresh with hints of crystallized rose petals, lavender and sage blossom. As it wears, it takes on a sweet, sultry facet with a combination of orange blossom water, praline (one of my favorite fragrance notes) and juicy peach. Finally, the dry down leaves you with hints of moss, tonka, woods and musk. This blend is familiar yet unique as it maintains a freshness that feels warm and fuzzy, satisfying those who prefer lighter aromas as well as those who gravitate towards gourmands.
Although this scent stands in a realm of its own, it does remind me of two other luxury fragrances: Kilian Paris Angels Share and Parfums de Marly Delina. XO Khloé is more muted than the former without notes of cinnamon and cognac, but it mimics the coziness with the robust praline note. As for the latter, Kardashian’s scent offers the same refined floral facets that make it a head-turner. And while there’s no true substitute for either of the designer scents I mentioned, XO Khloé does have a leg up on affordability. Where both Angels Share and Delina will cost you about $300, Kardashian’s scent is less than $100.
Kardashian’s goal with this perfume was to create a scent that makes the wearer radiate positivity, confidence and strength — and she absolutely achieved that. Regardless of whether you’re just building out your fragrance wardrobe or have been a long-time perfume lover, XO Khloé deserves a spot on your vanity. You can shop it now exclusively at Ulta.
