Labour CS Alfred Mutua announces 10,000 job opportunities, how to apply

In a significant move to address unemployment and expand international labor opportunities for Kenyan workers, Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua has announced 10,000 job vacancies in Dubai’s booming construction industry.

The announcement, shared by Mutua on social media on January 2, 2025, details a recruitment drive to be held this week at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic in Mombasa.

The initiative targets both skilled and unskilled workers, offering competitive tax-free salaries and comprehensive benefits.

The available positions span a wide range of roles in the construction sector, including steel fixers, masons, scaffolders, carpenters, waterproofing technicians, and general workers.

Successful candidates can expect salaries ranging from Ksh33,000 to Ksh60,000, with free accommodation, transport, food, and medical care provided.

“This is a life-changing opportunity. Come and try your luck!” Mutua wrote in his post, underscoring the transformative potential of the program for participants.

The program also features reduced processing costs, with candidates responsible for tickets, medical fees, and minor administrative expenses – a gesture aimed at making the opportunity accessible to as many Kenyans as possible.

“To make this opportunity accessible, I have negotiated reduced and affordable costs. Successful candidates will cater for their tickets, medical, and minor processing fees,” Mutua said in his announcement.

The announcement comes at a time when the government is actively pursuing partnerships with international employers to create pathways for its workforce in global markets.
