Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ministry of Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua has notified members of the public about the suspension of the National job recruitment programme.
In an official statement on Friday, February 7, 2025, the CS announced that the programme remains on hold until further notice.
“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection wishes to inform the public that the National job recruitment programme was suspended on 27th November 2024 and remains on hold until further notice,” CS Mutua’s statement reads in part.
He went on to say that some Kenyans have been turning up at the recruitment stations despite his earlier announcement about the suspension.
“Despite the official announcement made across all Ministry communication channels and my social media platforms, reports indicate that some individuals are still turning up at recruitment stations,” he added.

Mutua on recruitment exercise
Emphasizing the suspension, Mutua stated that currently there are no active recruitment activities in his ministry and that the only ongoing recruitment exercise is in Kisumu County and it is on the sidelines of the Nyanza Investment Conference, targeting job seekers from Nyanza counties.
“I wish to clarify that the only ongoing recruitment exercise is the Kisumu recruitment drive, scheduled for Friday, 7th to Saturday, 8th February 2025, on the sidelines of the Nyanza Investment Conference, targeting job seekers from Nyanza counties.
“There are currently no other active recruitment activities under the Ministry’s mandate,” he added.
Mutua urged members of the public to disregard the recruitment drive scheduled for February 20, 2025, until further notice.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the earlier recruitment schedule, which was set to run until 20th February 2025 and to rely solely on official communication from the Ministry for any future updates. Further details on the next steps will be communicated in due course,” Mutua said.

Job recruitment Suspension
On November 27, 2024, the CS announced that the recruitment process would temporarily pause to allow preparations for the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
During the break, the government worked on providing passports and certificates of good conduct to the 5,931 successful candidates.
“The recruitment drive will take a brief pause to accommodate preparations for the upcoming Jamhuri Day celebrations. During this pause, we will focus on processing the 5,931 job offers by facilitating the issuance of passports and certificates of good conduct for successful applicants.
“I want to assure all successful applicants that they will be contacted by Wednesday next week, and a new schedule for the exercise will be announced after Jamhuri Day,” Mutua said at the time.
