President William Ruto on Tuesday held a meeting with the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson Moussa Faki at his Kilgoris home in Narok County.
The two leaders discussed an array of issues including the AU reforms and the upcoming election of the AUC Chairperson.
“We are implementing reforms at the African Union’s structure to make it more effective and efficient in pursuing the continent’s interests.
In Kilgoris, Narok County, met the African Union Commission Chairperson and discussed, among others the upcoming election of the AUC Chairperson, a post that Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is tunning for,” Ruto took to his X platform.
The meeting comes days after Odinga attended the Mjadala Afrika debate in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he defended his interest in the AUC Chairperson position.
During the debate, Odinga stated that he would lobby for Africa to get two permanent seats at the United Nations Security Council if he clenches the position.
Faki is expected to exit in 2025 as Odinga faces out with Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Madagascar’s Richard Randriamandrato.
