Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya has come to the defence of Neno Evangelism’s Head Minister, Pastor James Ng’ang’a, following harsh criticism from Nairobi County Environment CEC Geoffrey Mosiria.
The controversy stems from a recent incident where Pastor Ng’ang’a was accused of mistreating a woman from Mukuru kwa Njenga who had sought help from his church.
In an Instagram statement shared on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Salasya dismissed Mosiria’s remarks and advised him to focus on his official duties instead of attacking religious leaders.
“Wewe Mosiria wachana na pastor wetu, wewe rudi kwa sisi walevi tupambane Quiver,” Salasya stated.
Mosiria posted a video on his TikTok account on the night of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, where he criticized Pastor Ng’ang’a. Mosiria condemned the pastor for lacking compassion towards those in need.
“My message to Commander Pastor Ng’ang’a—please, as a pastor, you should give hope to your people,” Mosiria urged in the video.
He emphasized that spiritual leaders should be beacons of hope, offering support and understanding to their congregants.
Mosiria scolds Pastor Ng’ang’a
Mosiria added that a true prophet does not humiliate or belittle individuals seeking assistance but instead sets an example through kindness and compassion.
“Pastor, always instil hope in your people. You may not have the resources to provide for everyone like Jesus, but I believe you are a man of God. A true prophet does not humiliate those who come seeking assistance; instead, he leads by example and uplifts, rather than misguides,” he asserted.
Mosiria, visibly agitated in his TikTok video, speculated that Pastor Ng’ang’a’s actions might have been a deliberate attempt to generate online attention, as he has previously made controversial statements that trended on social media.
“What you did to that young lady was disgraceful. You humiliated her. You made her look completely dejected. I believe you wanted to trend on social media because you always say outrageous things for attention—but Pastor Commander, this was uncalled for,” Mosiria stated.
He condemned Ng’ang’a’s behaviour, saying it stripped Milka of her dignity and portrayed her as desperate rather than offering her the support she needed. Mosiria warned that regardless of the pastor’s intentions, such behaviour was inappropriate and unbecoming of a spiritual leader.
Milka Moraa, a woman from Mukuru kwa Njenga had been locked outside by her landlord due to unpaid rent. Desperate for help, she approached Pastor Ng’ang’a, hoping for support. Instead of offering assistance, the pastor publicly scolded her, suggesting she move to the government’s affordable houses if she couldn’t pay her rent.
This incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media and has since gone viral with well-wishers mobilising to help the lady.
