Suits creator Aaron Korsh directly addressed fans’ concerns about the Suits LA spinoff and how the series will affect the memory of the original show.

Korsh, 58, took to X on Sunday, January 26, to reply to viewers who asked whether Suits LA will “ruin” the original show.

“Not trying to replace our beloved originals. Just a new crew working in a different city handling different kinds of cases,” he responded, before elaborating further in a separate post, “It seems like people are all wishing it was the originals back. I expected this and can’t blame them. I can only hope they give #SuitsLA an open-minded try. If they do, I really believe they will grow to love it.”

Korsh maintained that NBC’s Suits LA is “100% its own thing” but it “does have overlap” with the OG series. In response to a question about Gabriel Macht reprising the role of Harvey Specter, Korsh didn’t rule out the possibility of more cameos from former Suits stars.

“The network very much wanted one original member. If you watch, you’ll see that from a story standpoint Harvey made the most sense,” he continued. “[Suits LA is] its own thing, not a Suits spinoff.”

Korsh specifically reacted to the possibility of Patrick J Adams, Sarah Rafferty or Meghan Markle appearing on Suits LA, adding, “It remains to be seen.” The executive producer is “open” to the idea but his priority is to “launch these characters on this show.”

Set in a fictional New York City corporate law firm, the original Suits followed associate lawyer Mike Ross (Adams), who started working with Harvey Specter. The legal drama, which ran from 2011 to 2019, focused on Harvey and Mike winning lawsuits and closing cases while simultaneously hiding Mike’s secret that he didn’t go to law school.

The show had a resurgence in popularity in 2023 when it was added to Netflix and Peacock. As a result, NBC developed a spinoff starring Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Bryan Greenberg.

“We want to play the hits. We want to have a lot of fun,” Amell told Entertainment Weekly in December 2024. “We are only sitting in Black Lane Law group conference room at the moment right now because of Gabriel and Patrick and Sarah and Meghan and Rick [Hoffman] and all of the people that comprised the original Suits cast. So all of them are welcome.”

“You’ll notice behind my desk that there’s a picture of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter so there’s clearly a history between the characters,” he teased. “We came up together in the D.A.’s office. So if I was going to have anyone [from the original cast] come back, I would want it to be Gabriel.”

He continued: “I would really hope that that happens, because I am very much a fan of his character and I think that that dynamic would be something that the viewers would really enjoy. … I’m not the one that invites [past actors for cameos], but as far as I’m concerned, all of them are welcome. We’re going to do our own thing, and that’s OK. We do things on this show that they couldn’t do on the original.”
