Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood may have tricked producers into thinking she had a pregnancy scare.
During the Thursday, February 6, episode of the MTV reality show, executive producer Larry Musnick got a call from Amber recommending that the crew bring a pregnancy test.
“I’m freaking out,” Amber told a producer named Aaron. “Can’t we just do this tomorrow before I, like, completely cry and go and sit in a corner?”
When Aaron asked the reality star if she thought she was pregnant, Amber replied, “I mean, it’s possible. It was an ex. It was a complete, like, aftershock breakup situation. I’m just freaked out right now. I’m scared. Just pray for me that I wasn’t too much of a jackass.”
In a follow-up scene that took place on a later date, Amber and Aaron reunited to discuss the pregnancy scare.
During the candid conversation, Amber revealed to her producer that she wasn’t pregnant and didn’t take the pregnancy test.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “There’s been many times in my life where I’ve had to lie in order to get out of doing things because I’m not able to get ready, get dressed, move around, do anything. You just lie to people and say, ‘Oh, I’m busy’ or ‘I have this sickness.’ You want to make up something to where they’re like, ‘OK! We’re not going to do anything. You don’t have to go out. You don’t have to film.’”
Amber has been open about her mental health struggles and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.
The scenes also took place in the months after her engagement to Gary Wayt came to an end following his brief disappearance.
“I’m more than heartbroken. I’m f—ed up from what he did to me,” she said while holding back tears in Thursday’s episode. “We’re talking trauma. Being told you’re a murderer and thinking your fiancé’s dead. I did not sleep for four days. I didn’t eat. That’s just the truth.
In June 2024, Bryson City Police Department in North Carolina confirmed Wayt had been found safe after Amber reported him missing. The case was closed and Amber is not under investigation.
Through all of life’s recent ups and downs, Amber also acknowledged her distant relationship with 16-year-old daughter Leah, who she shares with ex Gary Shirley.
Amber was noticeably absent when Shirley and his wife, Kristina, gifted Leah a Nissan car in celebration of her learner’s permit.
“With my daughter, she doesn’t want to be around me,” Amber shared with cameras. “I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to wait for my daughter and not be a horrifically depressed person. I’ve never been a mom that didn’t care. Just a f—ed up mom.”
Teen Mom: The Next Chapter airs on MTV Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
