Playing two characters isolated in a mysterious location helped Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy get to know each other on the set of The Gorge.
In an exclusive Us Weekly clip, the actors put their costar knowledge to the test while playing a game called “Who Knows Their Costar Better?” Taylor-Joy, 28, started off the game by giggling at Teller’s response to describing the titular Gorge in one word. While she wrote “unique,” Teller, 37, dubbed the Gorge as “hell.”
“It’s also unique,” he said in response to her answer before joking, “It’s a unique hell.”
While the pair’s answers for the first question didn’t match, they each wrote down the word “tower” when asked what scene they shot on their first day working together. In the film, Taylor-Joy and Teller play skilled snipers stationed at opposing watchtowers over the Gorge, tasked with protecting the outside world from the dangers within it.
“[I wrote] ‘Tower (Anya OC),’ which stands for off camera, if you’re in the biz,” Teller stated. He went on to poke fun at his penmanship, telling Taylor-Joy, “I feel like my handwriting is, like, Comic Sans MS. Do you remember that font? It’s like, ‘You are a child.’ … I think at a certain point in life, I just stopped writing things.”
Taylor-Joy, for her part, called her own handwriting “awful,” stating, “My Cs look like Es.”

The next two questions asked the actors to describe each other using one word. Before describing Teller as a “sweetheart,” Taylor-Joy misread the actor’s handwriting. Instead of his actual response, calling her “worldly,” she quipped, “Oh, I thought it said ‘work hillbilly.’”
The duo agreed to disagree again when asked which of them would survive longer in the Gorge, as they each wrote that the other would make the better survivalist. “Ok, so I have thoughts,” Taylor-Joy stated. “Fundamentally, I wouldn’t kill an animal to survive.” (Earlier in the clip, Taylor-Joy noted that she would be “totally OK to die by lion or any kind of big cat.”)
She went on to ask Teller, “Would you hike up a tree?” For Teller, it “depends on the animal.”
Teller concluded the clip by declaring, “I think we nailed it.” Taylor-Joy agreed, adding, “I think we did a great job.”
