KUCCPS Extends Application Deadline for TVET Programs

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) recently announced an extended application window for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. This opportunity aims to help individuals who completed their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 2000 and 2022 enhance their skills through government-sponsored programs.

Eligibility for TVET Courses:

  • Artisan Certificate Courses: Minimum KCSE Grade of E
  • Craft Certificate Courses: Mean grade of D and above
  • Diploma Courses: Mean grade of C- (minus) and above

How to Apply:

  • Online Application: Access through students.kuccps.net.
  • Login Details: Use KCSE index number, KCSE year, and password. New applicants may use their birth certificate number or KCSE index number.
  • Course Selection: Pick four preferred courses and the desired government institution, ranking them from most to least preferred.
  • Submission: Finalize choices and click submit.

TVET’s Purpose:

The TVET programs aim to equip learners with practical skills suitable for professional workplaces, providing an alternative pathway for education and career development.

Impact and Choice:

In 2023, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu noted that 9,673 students, originally eligible for degree courses, chose TVET institutions instead. This shift highlights the increasing influence of TVET in meeting the demand for skilled professionals in the job market.

This extension offers a second chance for individuals to pursue specialized training aligned with their career goals, emphasizing the significance of TVET programs in shaping a competent workforce.
