GH Casting Updates: Brennan Recast Shocker

In a surprising twist, Charles Mesure has decided to exit General Hospital, shocking fans. His last air date was January 30, 2025. While the exact reason he left is still unclear, he did choose to leave on his own —  he wasn’t fired or let go.

Also, while there’s no confirmation yet, it’s likely that he didn’t want to commit to a lengthy stint on the soap given the hefty workload. When Jack Brennan first hit the GH scene, Charles commented that he is an “old dog” and isn’t sure if he can learn any new tricks.

He was unsure if he would be able to adapt to the massive dialogue the General Hospital actors must memorize. For his entire career, he only had to memorize a fraction of what the GH cast does. He also mentioned that he’s 53 years old.

So, he was uncertain that he could be a “leading man” again. When the character first debuted, he was not supposed to stay on long-term. Now, his pairing with Carly Corinthos Spencer (Laura Wright) is a huge hit.

“Jackly” Takes off on General Hospital

Indeed, it looks like they’re headed towards a genuine romance. General Hospital viewers are shipping “Jackly” hard and hope they become a serious couple. So, chances are, Charles just doesn’t want such a heavy workload on a consistent basis.

He spoke out about how much he loves working with Laura Wright. Furthermore, he’s had an “absolute ball” on the set. His decision to leave likely just comes down to the huge dialogue commitment. The General Hospital fan base is incredibly sad to see him go.

He has an undeniable charm and his chemistry with Carly’s portrayer, Laura, is amazing. However, it’s still exciting that Jack Brennan is going to remain on the canvas, and “Jackly” is still going strong and there’s more to come for them.

GH casting updates confirm soap veteran, Chris McKenna will step into the role of Jack Brennan starting February 4, 2025. Chris is known for his role of Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live, and Mark Harding on Young and the Restless

Also, Dr. Hayden on Bold and the Beautiful. Soon, we see his first scenes with Carly and many fans are optimistic. Even though Charles’ departure is a major letdown, it would be worse to lose the character altogether.
