‘RHOBH’ Star Bozoma Saint John’s Home Burned To The Ground In L.A. Wildfires – She Loss Everything
Bozoma Saint John is mourning the loss of her dream home in Malibu, which was destroyed by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 47, confirmed in a heartbreaking Instagram post on January 9 that the home she had worked tirelessly to obtain is now gone.
In the emotional post, Saint John reflected on the significance of the house, which she described as the one she “prayed for” and “worked in blood, sweat, and tears” to make a reality. The home had been a symbol of peace and a safe space for her and her 15-year-old daughter, Lael. “This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked in blood, sweat, and tears for,” she wrote in the caption, accompanied by photos of the property.
Saint John went on to explain the deep personal meaning the house held for her, especially after facing challenges, including racist neighbors. She shared that she had to purchase the property in a trust within a trust to protect her privacy as a “widowed, single Black woman with a teenager” trying to buy in an “exclusively-held beach” area. “This is the house where I found peace after battling with racist neighbors and a community that made me have to buy it in a trust within a trust so no one would know that a widowed, single Black woman with a teenager was buying on the exclusively-held beach.”
The reality star, who tragically lost her husband to cancer in 2013, described the home as a sanctuary for herself and her family. “This was my EFF YOU I’m here house,” Saint John said. “The house that I built a movie room dedicated to my sister so she could see her films in her own sanctuary. This is the house where I finally felt like I could choose to spend time … when I wanted to and how I wanted to.”
Saint John concluded her post with the devastating news that the wildfires had destroyed the entire property. “It is gone,” she shared. “This is an unimaginable loss. I grieve with the rest of Los Angeles as it burns … and even though I’ve found even words to write here, there’s nothing that I could say in this moment to describe this feeling. I ask for your prayer for Lael and I. God bless you.”
Saint John’s friends and fellow celebrities expressed their sympathy in the comments section, offering words of comfort and support. Andy Cohen wrote, “I am so sorry. This is unimaginable.” Fashion designer Rachel Zoe shared, “You are one of the strongest, most inspiring women I know, and you will do as you always do. We got you, and you are not alone. My heart is broken for you and all of our friends.” Actress Sophia Bush also sent her condolences, commenting, “Oh Boz, I am so so sorry. Covering you both in love.”
The wildfires have left many Los Angeles residents displaced, with over 80,000 people affected. Other celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Ricki Lake, Cameron Mathison, and Paris Hilton, have also confirmed the loss of their homes. Additionally, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, Miles and Keleigh Teller, John Goodman, Jennifer Grey, and many others have also been impacted by the fires.
Since the Palisades Fire began on January 7, over 130,000 residents have been issued mandatory evacuation orders due to the severe winds and dry conditions fueling the flames. As of now, the fires have claimed lives, though the full extent of the damage and the exact toll is still being determined by officials.
Saint John’s loss is just one of many as wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.
