Ubah Hassan Accuses Brynn Whitfield of Pushing False Narrative About Her and Forcing Drama on RHONY!
The drama between Real Housewives of New York stars Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield just took an another scorching turn, with Ubah accusing her costar of intentionally crafting a “false narrative” about her from the very beginning.
In a candid interview with Glamour on January 29, Ubah, 41, explained that her dynamic with Brynn was strained from the very beginning. “From the start, it felt like Brynn had it out for me,” Ubah shared. “She’d make little jabs — wrapped in just enough kindness to seem harmless — that would pile on.”
Looking back, Ubah feels that Brynn was working to create a false narrative about her. “It felt like she was determined to create a false narrative about me,” she continued.
“Looking back, I see the pattern: She’d push me until I reacted then later come to me in tears, saying how much she loves me, how kind I am, and how much the show needs me.”
The tensions between the two costars reached a boiling point during the season 15 finale of Real Housewives of New York, which was filmed on the cast’s trip to Puerto Rico. In a shocking moment, Ubah accused Brynn of sleeping with someone to secure her spot on the show.
Brynn, in turn, revealed that she had been sexually assaulted in the past, a traumatic experience Ubah claimed she had no knowledge of at the time. “I didn’t know anything about it,” Ubah clarified. “I was shocked when she said it.”
In addition, Ubah expressed regret over the comment about Brynn’s casting. “I regret saying these words. But here’s the thing: I would’ve said them to anyone if they behaved the way she did,” Ubah explained.
“It wasn’t because Brynn is a sexual being or that I was trying to hurt her heart. I would’ve said this to any of them if they were pushing me to perform as much as she did.”
The accusation that Brynn was pushing her and other cast members to perform intensified Ubah’s frustration.
“She would accuse us of ‘taking money out of her purse’ because we weren’t meeting her standards, and I got tired of it,” Ubah said. “It was a heated moment that came after months of pressure to be something I’m not.”
The Real Housewives of New York airs on Tuesdays on Bravo.
