Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has raised concerns regarding the recent revelations by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi about the abduction of his son, Leslie Muturi.
Kaluma, in a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, questioned the credibility of Muturi’s information, particularly regarding the involvement of high-ranking officials.
The lawmaker also raised the possibility of these parties denying such communication, highlighting the need for credible evidence to support Muturi’s claims.

Muturi spills beans
Muturi, in a damning statement at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, recounted the events surrounding the abduction of his son on June 22, 2024.
According to the CS, Leslie was kidnapped by armed, hooded men along Dennis Pritt Road after leaving Alfajiri Lounge in the company of Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje and Marangu Imanyara. They were en route to a birthday party in Lavington when the incident occurred.
Muturi told the DCI that the gang forced his son into a Toyota Prado and drove off. Alarmed, Muturi contacted then Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who assured him they would investigate the matter. However, his attempts to reach the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin and NIS Director General Noordin Haji were unsuccessful, as neither answered his calls.
“The IG assured me that all personnel on all routes had been alerted, suspecting it might have been a robbery. But I was convinced it was a police operation,” Muturi said.
He added that officers from Kilimani Police Station had contacted a local TV station to obtain CCTV footage showing Leslie and his friends leaving Alfajiri Lounge.
Concerned about the gravity of the situation, Muturi sent a WhatsApp message to President William Ruto, informing him of his son’s abduction. However, the message was not read. He claims that an NIS officer later called him (Muturi), revealing that Leslie was being held by their agents. Despite this confirmation, his attempts to reach Haji continued to be futile.
“Just before 1:00 pm, I decided to call Prof. Kindiki, then Interior CS. After explaining the entire situation, he expressed shock and assured me he would contact Noordin Haji,” Muturi explained.
He reported that 15 minutes later, Kindiki called back, informing Muturi that Haji had denied NIS’s involvement. Despite Muturi’s insistence that a NIS officer had confirmed the detention, Kindiki maintained that Haji could not be lying.
Muturi meets Ruto
Desperate for action, Muturi physically went to State House to seek the President’s intervention. After narrating the ordeal, Muturi expressed his belief that NIS was holding his son. According to Muturi, President William Ruto responded lightheartedly, joking about why anyone would want to arrest a young person over the Gen Z demonstrations, noting that other officials’ sons had also participated in similar protests.
The President, acknowledging that his phone had been overwhelmed by messages, called Haji at Muturi’s request.
“Standing outside the pavilion, I heard the President ask Haji if he was holding my son. Noordin confirmed that indeed he was holding my son, and the President instructed him to release Leslie immediately. Noordin responded that Leslie would be released within an hour,” Muturi disclosed.
Muturi said Leslie was released and safely returned home shortly after his conversation with the president.
